NFB/ONF Education

Licensing Options

  • Most of the content on NFB/ONF is publicly accessible. A paid subscription does not provide additional access, but it does include institutional licensing for all publicly accessible content.
  • Some but not all of the publicly accessible titles on NFB/ONF are available for separate institutional licensing by non-subscribers. (I.e., subscription includes licensing for some titles that can't be licensed for institutional use otherwise.)
  • Some of the content on NFB/ONF is only available for rent by individual users (i.e., paid, short-term personal use) and is not included in a paid institutional subscription.

Access Details

Access via EZproxy is not necessary, but is supported for purposes of usage tracking.

MARC Records

  • OCLC subscribers can find them in their Knowledge Base catalogue.
  • Otherwise, an NFB library admin user account is required. To set up a new account, first have the user create a normal user account on nfb.ca, and then the primary contact at the consortium should write the vendor with the new account details and request that it be set up with access to MARC records. If you encounter any issues, please loop in OCLS.

Alma-Primo

The NFB collection in the Alma-Primo Community Zone has not been updated since the mass withdrawals began in the summer of 2024. NFB is currently working on re-establishing contact with Ex Libris but as of Dec 2024, there is no projected update date.
